The ranch has bred, raised and trained them to provide the dude ranch guests with the finest of riding opportunities in Colorado. The Horse Program is outstanding and geared to every riding ability and age group. Horses are selected to match your own riding skills. Daily instruction, both in the arena and on the trail help to improve everyone's proficiency. At Drowsy Water Dude Ranch you can have all you care to eat, and nothing but the best! The ranch takes great pride in food, which is lovingly prepared from recipes handed down for generations. Most meals are served family style in our dining room but outdoor meals are highlights. Breakfast on a mountain top. Open hearth barbecue. Chuckwagon lunches. Sometimes, right out of your saddlebag. Each day is different. The ranch aim to please. Even the breads and pastries are made from scratch. But not everyone can eat like a cowboy, so let us know in advance about your special diet and we will try our darndest to accommodate your needs.

For The Kids Maybe:

At Drowsy Water Guest Ranch our Rangerider program, for kids 6 through 13, is built around an instruction based horseback riding program where they practice skills in our arena before setting out to the backcountry on their morning and afternoon trail rides.  These young rider’s workup to loping and all day rides as their abilities improve.  Before and after the rides our counselors have other group activities to do such as an obstacle course, horse brushing, swimming, hiking, archery, rafting, lassoing a steerhead, and other group activities.

Our Buckaroo program for the little kids ages 5 and under is the perfect way for parents to be able to enjoy their guest ranch vacations. These young children are taken care of and entertained by our counselors, while the parents are taking part in the ranch activities.  Their activities include horseback rides around the ranch, games, crafts, and picnic hikes.  The counselors can take care of any individual needs like naps, baby feeding, etc.  Since our Colorado dude ranch is heavily family oriented, families eat meals together, parents can partake in any of the children’s programs and riding, and our evening entertainment is also family oriented.

Accommodations at the Ranch:

At Drowsy Water Dude Ranch, accommodations are always top-drawer and carefully cleaned everyday.  Our Colorado guest ranch cabins and lodge are snug, comfortable and are decorated with a western flair. With the smell of clean, fresh, mountain air, you'll never get a better night's rest -- anywhere!

Cabins and Lodge guest rooms have all been remodeled and refurbished but still maintain their historical cabin essence. Our guest rooms easily accommodate singles, couples, small families and large families and friends wanting to be near to each other. One of our guests was caught saying, "Our accommodations were so cozy, I almost hoped it would rain so that I could have an excuse to stay indoors."

Getting to this Ranch:

The Drowsy Water Dude Ranch in Colorado is situated 90 miles west of Denver, 6 miles west of Granby, Colorado and just 1.5 miles off U.S. 40 on our private road.  They are conveniently located near many area attractions such as: Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake, Winter Park and Hot Sulphur Springs.

Granby, Colorado  is serviced by AMTRAC. Rental cars and shuttle transportation services are available from Denver, Colorado.

All rates are American Plan and include accommodations in Log cabins or rooms in the Lodge, all with private bath, all meals, your personal horse for the week, children’s supervised programs, fishing, use of heated pool and hot tub, and all ranch activities.* (Hayrides, dancing, carnival, staff shows, campfires, sing-alongs, River float trip, and more). Golf fees are extra.

NOTE: Persons weighing over 215 pounds may be limited to walking rides.
